The Little Squirrel’s prototype, the Secret Squirrel, commissioned by Flood as Alan Moulder’s 50th birthday gift, was affectionately described as looking like a ‘school science project’. At the outset of development we were encouraged to sever ties with traditional bass amplifier design, and show an active disregard for convention.

When planning a production-friendly version of the Secret Squirrel, the intent was to make a small, portable bass amplifier that would produce a parade of sonic variety. The Secret Squirrel became Al’s stalwart bass re-amping tool and the Little Squirrel inherits all of its predecessor’s pedigree resulting in an exceptional tracking and mix-building device. It presents scope for retaining velveteen clarity, contorting and bending signals beyond recognition, or exploring any of the limitless intervening possibilities.

The Little Squirrel bends the loftiest boughs of amplifier functionality, and in doing so exhibits some of our core motivations – to create amplifiers that push boundaries, to provoke and to inspire.
